'It's pretty brutal': Hugh Jackman reveals dehydration fitness regime that got him ripped for X-Men
As Wolverine, Hugh Jackman battles his inner demons, but even the Wolverine needs to take a break and have some fun once in a while.
Hugh hung up his claws for a more dapper look as he showed off some dance moves and posed for different shots in Manhattan magazine's October edition.
In this role, it may be hard to imagine, but the multi-talented actor is an incredible dancer and singer.
In fact, he's so good that he earned a Best Actor Tony Award for The Boy From Oz.
Wearing a Hampton jacket, a slim fit button-front vest, Hampton slim straight-leg pants and a striped knitted silk tie from Burberry, Hugh gets in touch with his playful side for the photo shoot.
The 44-year-old actor also reveals some personal details about his life, telling the magazine how hard it was to get physically fit for Wolverine.
'Water dehydration got me that ripped look, but I'm so low on energy I'm literally sleeping all the time because I'm on a zero-carb, limited-calories diet. It's pretty brutal,' he reveals.
When preparing for a role, Hugh admits that the physical training is always harder than the mental.
'The physical preparation gets harder and the emotional preparation gets easier,' he explains. 'For an action movie like Wolverine, the director, James Mangold, rode me hard - he wanted me to have
a deeper version of the character.
But having played action characters about 16 times, that comes easier to me now.'
Hugh gets so deeply involved in the physical part that he doesn't stay still for very long even in his sleep.
'I’m the busiest sleeper on the planet. My wife says about every 15 seconds I kick, run, turn around, like I’m running a marathon. If you’re on a plane next to me, you wonder what’s going on with that guy.'
